Nehemiah
Nehemiah was a Jewish leader who supervised the rebuilding of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. He was a high official at the Persian court and obtained permission from King Artaxerxes I to return to Judah. He also introduced moral and liturgical reforms to rededicate the Jews to God's laws. He worked together with Ezra, who led the spiritual revival of the people. He wrote the Book of Nehemiah in the Bible as a memoir of his life and work.
